You can have this error message on MFC and DCP Brother printers. This error appears although the cartridge is not empty. The problem comes from the ink level detector of the printer (sensor). Solution 1 : Uninstall the cartridge and put back it. Solution 2 : Clean the sensor with a wet cotton swab. Each sensor face up each cartridge. Solution 3 : Put a piece of black tape on  the transparent part of the cartridge: also, the sensor will recognize the cartridge.  Be careful: you will not be warned when the cartridge will be really empty !

Error code 6A is a fuser error. It appears on Brother MFC-8440, MFC-8840, MFC-8500, DCP-8020, DCP-8040, DCP-8045D Solution 1 : Turn off the power Unplug the printer power. Wait 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in. Solution 2 : Check the fuser Solution 3 : Unplug for 10 seconds Press and hold on the menu key while you plug it back in untill you see the screen "parameter init"  Press 99.   Solution 4 : Turn off printer Hold down MENU button and turn on. To fix error 46 you have to reset the purge counter. Solution : Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC210C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode).
