Where is the clear strip on the carriage assembly?

My Brother MFC 490CW keeps repeating the cleaning function. I have checked for paper jams, reinserted ink cartridges, etc. and still get the error 36 message.

Hi Umesh,

The power supply PCB or the Main PCB Assy could be defective: http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2015/07/brother-pinter-dcp-7055-dcp-7055w.html

print unable 7a error???
solution plz machine dcp 7065dn

Hi Mdzabi,

For error Print unable 7a, it could be:

1 - a flat cable connection failure of main motor: check the flat cable and reconnect them if needed.
2 - a main motor failure: replace the main motor
3 - low voltage power supply PCB failure: replace it
4 - main PCB failure: replace it

My MFC295CN coming up with "Printer Unable 36" after bad paper jam . Followed directions in user guide for paper jam and everything seemed to clear but as soon as I went to copy it would start off as normal then give a couple of clicks, would not print and error message would come up again. Double checked for paper scraps but could not see any initially then on left side of carriage way after hitting stop/exit to bring printer head to centre saw what seemed to be black piece of tape covered in ink stuck on the carriageway. Pulled power cord and then removed tape under which was a inch square of what appeared to be a grey sponge material. Wiped off excess ink off carriageway in round the sponge, put power cord back in and hit copy. Machine functioned as normal but copy came out blank. Tried couple of times but no print copies just blanks.
Did I disrupt the inking process when I removed piece of tape?

Hi Denis,

I'm not sure, but it could be a cable unplugged inside the printer. Check for the printhead's fkat cable to be well connected.

Check too the encoder strip: clean it with a dry cloth.

Hi Jann,
Actually what I thought was piece of tape when I looked at it again was piece of torn inked paper - ended up cleaning the printer head as per user guide and bingo printer functioned ok after spending hours trying to fix fault. Happy little camper now.

How to solve error B204 on Canon Maxify printers

The error B204 could happen after a cartridge replacement. First of all, when installing, remove the cartridges from the plastic package, but do not drill any plastic membranes, as this will cause this error when placing the cartridge. The error may also appear if you change a completely empty cartridge: when installing a full cartridge, the printer enters a cleaning cycle, but the printhead has not yet received ink from the newly inserted cartridge. Change the cartridges. Close the fr
