Where is the clear strip on the carriage assembly?

My Brother MFC 490CW keeps repeating the cleaning function. I have checked for paper jams, reinserted ink cartridges, etc. and still get the error 36 message.

Keep getting error 36 message. There is no paper jam, machine is performing cleaning function repeatedly. I don't know where the carriage assembly/clear strip are. Help!

A slightly damp kitchen worked for me. Did need to power off after doing it to get the printer to reset.
