How to solve error code 5200 or P08 on Canon printers

 MAJ 25/11/14

This error indicate a printhead temperature rise error. In most cases, the printhead is defective. But try these solutions first:

Solution 1:
  • Power off the printer.
  • Wait 5 minutes.
  • Power on.

Solution 2:
  • Remove the cartridges
  • Remove the printhead
  • Restart the printer
  • Install the printhead and the cartridges

Solution 3 (for some Canon printers) (thanks to Pastmart):
  • Turn off the printer .
  • Press without release the Stop button.
  • Press the On button and hold it.
  • Release the Stop button.
  • Press Stop button 5 times then release the two buttons.
  • Led will blank and now reseting.
  • Computer will detect new hardware: ignore it.
  • Turn off the printer then turn it on.

Solution 4 (thanks to The Realist):
  • Turn your printer off
Hold down the Reset button while pressing the On button.
  • While still holding down the On button release the Reset button
  • Press the Reset button twice.
  • Release the On button, led will flash and 0 will appear in the window.
  • Press the reset button 4 times and the On button twice.
  • The printer will turn off.
  • Turn on

Solution 5:
  • The printhead need to be replaced
  • Or that's an electronic error

This is all a scam by canon to get you to buy more of THEIR ink cartridges. If they, or one is empty you replace them your printer will work. If you use only black (with color turned off)and fill your own black as I do follow this:

1.) Turn your printer off
2.) Hold down the reset button while pressing the on button.
3.) while still holding down the on button release the reset button then press the reset button twice.
4.) release the on button it will flash and 0 will appear in the window. then press the reset button 4 times and the on button twice.Wait and the printer will turn off.
5.) turn printer back on let it go thru it's stuff. You can now print.

It worked :-) Im getting slightly burred print however only on a few lines of text. Its like the top and bottom of the letters are slightly out of line.

Could this be because I accidentally touched that clear film strip inside yesterday while trying to fix it?

Black ink = New
Colored ink = almost empty or empty

'canon i900d error 5200. I tried all the other suggestions including the reset procedures that worked for others and even took out and cleaned the print head. Nothing worked. Then I removed the print head and cleaned the contacts with a pencil eraser (an old trick) and it worked. So if nothing else works for you try that.

ok, so I'm not sure how long this will stay working. I tried all of the above solutions (multiple times) and none worked. SO....I thought, what the heck, I have an MP970 which didn't see in the post or the responses (I may have missed it). SO...I tried Solution 3, but instead of pressing the Stop button 5 times (5th bullet point in the solution) I just guessed and tried 10 times (I may have done 8, but I'm not game to try again to test it, now that it's working, as you will understand I'm sure). and......it worked. So, depending on the model you have, if you have the patience to try it, perhaps try a varying number of presses of the Stop button at step five until you (hopefully) find the magic number that works. Good luck and hope I've helped someone.

How to solve error B204 on Canon Maxify printers

The error B204 could happen after a cartridge replacement. First of all, when installing, remove the cartridges from the plastic package, but do not drill any plastic membranes, as this will cause this error when placing the cartridge. The error may also appear if you change a completely empty cartridge: when installing a full cartridge, the printer enters a cleaning cycle, but the printhead has not yet received ink from the newly inserted cartridge. Change the cartridges. Close the fr
