Resetting waste ink counter on a Canon Pixma MP250

Solve error 5B00

Solution:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Hold the "Stop/Reset" button while pushing the power button. 
  • Do not release the power button, release the "Stop/Reset" button and then push it twice in a row.
  • Release the buttons.
  • Wait 20 to 30 seconds until the LED shows 0.
  • Push the "Stop/Reset" button four times in a row.
  • Push the power button twice.
  • Turn off the printer by pushing the power button. 
  • That's ok.

Download the MP tool and run with your PC right after the resetting mode. But normally this resetting does the trick.

Works - BUT - only as long as the printer is left running - turn it off and when you turn it back on again you have the same problem. I suspect that the only way to do a re-set is using the appropriate software.

Feeling happy. I took my epson MP 250 apart,
took out the ink drainage pad (very messy )
washed it, dried, it put everything back together
and used your instructions and video to get past the code counter.
run off a sheet and all fine.
1 less printer in the land fill at least for a while.

Didn't work for me. My computer doesn't go to zero after releasing the button.
