Machine error 48 or init unable 48 on Brother printers

Machine error 48 or init unable 48 means that the print head cable or circuit board is defective.


Solution:
The encoder strip needs to be cleaned with a lint free cloth. If the encoder strip gets dirty, many different problems can occur.

  • If the machine still errors, the encoder strip needs to be replaced – Part Number LS4467001
  • If the machine still errors, replace the carriage PCB assembly – Part Number LS6543001
  • If the machine still errors, replace the Printhead – Part Number LK3211001
  • If the machine still errors, replace the Main PCB assembly – Part Number LT0284011

you know guys, you're just making it more complicated. follow the following procedures:
1. unplug your device.
2. plug it again and press "menu" button.
3. then go to maintenance 80.
4. Then reset your device.
5. Note: this is the most important, but this will be easy.
-no need to worry if your printer remains sick. Just unplug it again, put in the box(original)then throw it away. See, no more problems. (SOLVED)

i keep hearing the "Maintanence 80 reset"
it does NOTHING to fix error 48

just because some lucky fellow fixed his printer my rebooting it does NOT mean this is the solution.
