How to fix error 46 on Brother MFC-5440CN

The printer must be reseted:
  • Press menu then*2864 within 2 seconds and press 80.
  • Keep pressing black/mono start button until screen displays ‘purge count’.
  • Press 2783 to reset purge count.
  • Press stop/exit key
  • Press 99
  • The printer should return to normal
